Republican Candidate Greg Evers Qualifies by Petition for State Senate

Baker, Fla. – Republican Candidate Greg Evers today announced he has officially qualified by petition for ballot placement for the August 14th Republican Primary for the newly-drawn Florida Senate District 2 seat.  Evers received more than 1,602 valid signatures for the 2012 election.

“We officially qualified for Senate District 2 thanks to the more than 1,600 supporters who signed a petition to place me on the ballot for August,” said Evers.  “I am overwhelmed by the outpour of support that my neighbors have shown for my campaign, and I can’t wait to get out there and continue my quest to be the next Senator of our great Northwest Florida communities.”

“Northwest Florida is my home and my community.  And, I want to continue to be the Republican my neighbors can count on in the Florida Legislature.  I encourage all of you to jump on the bandwagon and come out to support my campaign as we walk door to door and attend various community events in the upcoming months.  I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead!” concluded Evers.

The newly-drawn Florida Senate District 2 seat includes Escambia, North Okaloosa and Santa Rosa Counties.  According to the Department of State, Division of Elections, the deadline for candidates to qualify for the State Senate is noon on June 8, 2012.

Senator Greg Evers currently represents Florida Senate District 2, which includes parts of Escambia, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Washington, Bay and Holmes counties. He is a farmer and small businessman who was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2001, was subsequently re-elected, and elected to the Florida Senate in 2010.  Evers has put his experience in agriculture and business to good use in the Florida Legislature and is proud of his legislative accomplishments on behalf of Florida’s critical agriculture industry, economic development and job creation, and Second Amendment issues.
